People in Virginia...Keep Them Pants UP!

Virginia isn't taking it any more.

Yahoo! News - Va. Bill Sets Fine for Low-Riding Pants

Excerpt:
"Virginians who wear their pants so low their underwear shows may want to think about investing in a stronger belt. The state's House of Delegates passed a bill Tuesday authorizing a $50 fine for anyone who displays his or her underpants in a "lewd or indecent manner."

HILARIOUS! I can't tell, though, if it's aimed at men or women? Sad to say, both are now dropping the "under" in "underwear."

I wonder if they will also outlaw those little lingerie tops (camisoles, whatever) that women are wearing now? Since when is lingerie appropriate attire outside of the bedroom?

I see more and more of both sexes either sagging (men) or wearing the super low hip-huggers (women) each day. Some things are just wrong, law or no law!

I love the way my sons' high school handles it, for boys, the get a big pink vinyl belt to wear if they are sagging, girls get the "ugly shirt" a lime green shirt long enough to cover pretty much anything. Great fun!!!

That's funny, Todd. I can imagine the humiliation that those articles of clothing inflict!

oh my goodness could we ever use a law like that up here in Canada. Those stupid droopy drawers are my pet peeve! The other day I actually noted a young man with his whole hind end hanging out whilst trying to hang onto the front part...yuck! In the meantime I am fighting the battle in my own home with my 8 year old who thinks it's cool. He thinks he has an excuse now because his belt is causing a horrible skin reaction on his belly and the doctor ordered him not to wear it...those pants may just disappear mysteriously one day......

LOL Lani! :) I wouldn't blame you a bit if they did disappear.

While I abhor people walking around with their drawers falling to their knees, I still have some concerns about the governmet telling people what style of clothing they can wear. I would love to see more men and women dressing appropriately. I'm just leary of big brother becoming a terrible control freak. I worry that one day we will be North Korea, issuing statements that all men must have haircuts of 2" or shorter. Ooo!

i had a kid who had to use both hands to sharpen his pencil with a ,gasp> old fashioned pencil sharpner. his pants fell all the way down.

Was he embarrassed? :)

Those pencil sharpeners--wow, just the mention of them takes me back. I remember the smell of the shavings, and the different-sized holes to fit any size pencil (I hated trying to get it to move...who uses unorthodox pencil sizes, anyway?).

I bought one of those pencil sharpeners and have it mounted on my wall in my office. Sharpening pencils is the funnest part of homework time. I think some of them break a little too easily though....hmmmmmmmmm
